Ange Postecoglou warns Tottenham, names ONE key factor that can make Spurs drop points against Unai Emery’s inform Aston Villa side amid injury concerns for the Lilywhites.
Head coach Ange Postecoglou has warned his Tottenham side about Aston Villa’s form ahead of their visit on Sunday (2pm).
The sides will meet in a crunch Premier League meeting, with Villa sitting fifth and Spurs fourth. Villa, who have 13 consecutive home wins, will look to get their away form back on track, while Spurs need to get back to winning ways after defeats to Chelsea and Wolves.
The two defeats have seen them drop from top of the table to fourth and they sit just one point above Villa. Postecoglou also has been dealing with a severe injury crisis and seven players will miss out, while Yves Bissouma and Cristian Romero are suspended.
Postecoglou has been impressed with the work Villa have done so far and anticipates a tough encounter. “They’ve been good since Unai [Emery] has got there,” he said.
“They’ve been really consistent with the way they play their football and particularly over recent weeks they are scoring goals. They obviously have a great deal of belief so it will be a great test for us, but we’re at home.
“Apart from the Chelsea game, our home form has been really strong and we need to make sure we get back to that. As you said, we don’t have two injuries, we have a few more but every club will go through it and for me it does allow me to look at every aspect of our squad.
“You try to do that by design but sometimes that happens and that is our existence at the moment where guys will get an opportunity to play. It is great for me to see how they cope with playing our football, with the stress of playing against good opposition, so it will be a good test for us, but it is one we have to be up for.”
