Arsenal in talks with defender – Gunners eyeing up sensational deal – Arsenal decide to sign £27M man

Arsenal are one of the clubs that are reportedly looking at the idea of signing PSG star Kylian Mbappe at the end of the season.

Mbappe has been in the transfer headlines all summer after he came out and revealed that he has no plans to agree a new contract at the club – and will leave when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

PSG only want players on the tour who are committed to the club and want to be at the club, and did intend to sell the Frenchman in the summer for a fee, but the attacker made the decision to stay and wait.

PSG are convinced Mbappe has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer, but with the Spaniards unable to compete in the transfer market because of their financial issues, that gave the likes of ARSENAL to get a transfer deal done.

However – despite all the speculation and all the rumors – Mbappe is still a PSG player and a man that they are trying to tempt into signing a new contract to make him one of the highest paid players in world football.

But according to the Daily Record, the Gunners and Liverpool are among potential suitors that could move for the star striker.

Both clubs are said to be “exploring the financial and sporting parameters involved” in signing the France international.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bring a new centre-forward to the Emirates as he looks to guide his team to their first Premier League title in 20 years.

IS HE THE RIGHT FIT FOR ARSENAL?

Look, Mbappe has no loyalties to the clubs he pays for – he goes where the money is and that is not what the Gunners need right now.

He has an amazing amount of talent – but the Premier League is not the French league and that is why he wants a move to La Liga – there are a few great teams and then nothing.

We are sure that alot of fans at ARSENAL would love the man, but his heart is set on Madrid and that means he would not give 100 per cent if he made the move to the Emirates is a proposed move to Madrid falls through.

DAVID RAYA DECISION MADE –

Arsenal have already made the decision to sign David Raya permanently from Brentford.

Mikel Arteta made the big decision over the summer transfer window to make a move and sign the impressive David Raya on loan until the end of the season, despite the fact that Aaron Ramsdale has been brilliant since his move to the Emirates.

Brentford, willing to help ARSENAL navigate Financial Fair Play Rules, gave the option to sign Raya on a permanent basis for £27million at the end of the season.

And, according to Fabrizio Romano, Mikel Arteta has already seen enough from Raya to decide Arsenal will take up that option.

The Spanish stopper recently made it clear that he would be interested in a long-term move to the Emirates – Asked by The Athletic if he would seal the deal now if given the chance, Raya said: “Yes, I would have done it yesterday [if I could].”

Asked about his relationship with Aaron Ramsdale: “The relationship? It’s very good,” said Raya. “At the end of the day, we are mates, which is the important thing. We have a very healthy relationship. There are no problems.

“We push each other every day in training: when he’s a little bit down, I push him, and when I’m a little bit down [he does the same].

“We train three goalkeepers, four at the most, for hours a week, and you need that kind of relationship because otherwise, the training is not going to go well.

“Arteta gives me the confidence to be there, that he wanted to have two top players in each position, and it was up to me to find the time and fight to get the minutes.”

“If there are rotations, as there are in any position, I’m going to help on and off the pitch,” said Raya.

“I had a few conversations with Mikel before making the signing because it was complicated, the financial issue and so on.

“He was one of the coaches I wanted to work with, his philosophy, how he has transformed ARSENAL with the way he has played and it was very important to have him as a coach.”

ARSENAL IN BEN WHITE TALKS

Arsenal are confident they can agree a new long-term deal with defender Ben White.

Since his move from Brighton just a few seasons ago – White has developed into a player that Mikel Arteta can really rely on and a star that has the ability to play in a couple of positions.

White’s current deal at ARSENAL is up in 2026 – but the Gunners are keen to make sure that he is rewarded for the good performances he has put in that Arsenal shirt over the past few seasons.

White has missed just one league match so far this term and has made 20 appearances across all competitions, and Talks with the 26-year-old have been progressing well, according to the Standard.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s live on with Newcastle earlier in the season, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta said on White’s 100th appearance for the club: “He’s progressed in the right way in the last few years. He had a difficult start which is normal, it was a big jump, different expectations.

“He showed a lot of determination and courage to overcome that. He’s got a big personality, copes with pressure really well and has a lot of quality in different position.

“He’s a really good character, the way he is and how he presents himself. He loves football, the way he trains, applies himself and plays the game in a top way.”

Ben White has been impressive since his move to the Emirates and we are certain that a deal will be done sooner rather than later, as everyone wants to get it wrapped up.

And there are not too many ARSENAL fans out there that will be against his getting that deal.
