Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘likely’ to loan out Ryan Sessegnon during the January transfer window if he recovers from his injury before then.
Ange Postecoglou has not been able to take a good look at Sessegnon so far, with the left-back suffering a hamstring injury at the start of pre-season.
The Tottenham head coach admitted last month that the former Fulham man has had a tough few months and is working hard behind the scenes (Football London) but there has been no update yet regarding the 23-year-old’s expected date of return.
With Destiny Udogie having an impressive start to his Tottenham career, and with Postecoglou having an experienced and reliable understudy in Ben Davies, it remains to be seen if Sessegnon can get any minutes when he is back fit.
Loan move on the cards for Ryan Sessegnon:
Gold has now stated that if the left-back manages to recover over the next month or two, Tottenham are likely to loan him out in January.
However, the journalist pointed out that Spurs will be wary of Udogie’s niggling injury issues and that the club will monitor the Italian closely before making a decision on Sessegnon.
If the former England Under-21 international is loaned out, it will not be the first time he has left the club on a temporary deal, having spent the 2022-21 season at Hoffenheim.
It will make sense for Tottenham to loan out Sessegnon as no club is likely to pay a reasonable fee for the left-back in January due to his recent injury issues.
So, Spurs will be hoping that the 23-year-old proves his fitness and showcases his quality out on loan so that there are several suitors for his signature next summer.
