Robbie Savage believes Joe Rodon has been ‘brilliant’ since joining Leeds United on loan in the summer.
Rodon had effectively found himself surplus to requirements after a difficult couple of years at Tottenham Hotspur and so joined Leeds on a season-long-loan deal.
Since making his full debut in the third game of the season against West Bromwich Albion, Rodon has established himself as a key part of Daniel Farke’s side.
Rodon was particularly impressive in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough, with Savage singling out his second half block – which maintained Leeds’ one-goal lead – for praise in an interview with TeamTalk.
Leeds are now said to be keen on getting a permanent deal done with Spurs for the 26-year-old, such has been the level of his performances at Elland Road.
Rodon getting better and better by the week
Savage believes that Rodon getting regular football is what has led to his improvement in form, hailing his Welsh compatriot as ‘brilliant’ for the Whites.
“Leeds have enjoyed seven straight wins at home in the Championship and are really going places this season. Their latest win was a tense and exciting 3-2 win over improving Middlesbrough, with Rodon making a great block to prevent their 10 men equalising during the second half.
“He’s been brilliant for Leeds (more like Micky Van de Ven for Spurs). He’s getting regular games of football, albeit at a Championship level!”
It is pretty telling just how good he has been that club and country teammate Ethan Ampadu has publicly urged him to sign for Leeds permanently.
Savage is also not the first pundit to hail his arrival in the last few days, with Neil Redfearn having praised his signing following the win over Boro.
Hopefully Leeds can get a deal done for him as early as January so that he is guaranteed to be here next season regardless of division.
