Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr may be ruled out of the West Ham clash on Thursday 7 December, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the 21-year-old will gradually be re-introduced in games in order to get back his match sharpness.
Ange Postecoglou said on 1 December that Sarr was behind Richarlison in terms of recovery but the Brazilian made his return off the bench against Manchester City on Sunday.
Discussing the state of play with Sarr exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Based on the comments, sounds like he’s close to returning to team training and then re-introduced in matches gradually.
“His routine will first be partial training and then if he responds well, then full team training.
“However, for him to be available for first-team games, he’ll need to be at that stage in his recovery and he does not appear to be there yet.“
The Senegal international has been a revelation for most Spurs fans this season as he’s managed to be one of Postecoglou’s first names on the team sheet.
He’s already made 12 Premier League appearances from a possible 14 – featuring in every single game he was fit and available for.
Despite being a defensive midfielder, he’s also scored a goal and provided two assists – helping his team’s cause in the final third as well.
Postecoglou will be hoping that he’s back in action sooner rather than later as he does appear to be on the cusp of a return with the likes of James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Micky van de Ven and Ryan Sessegnon also ruled out.
