Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min was furious after his side were beaten again last night.
Spurs are going through a rough patch right now. Ange Postecoglou‘s honeymoon period is over, and his side has picked up just one point out of a possible 15 recently. That has resulted in an unwanted statistic that Son has branded ‘unacceptable’.
Son Heung-min reacts to ‘unacceptable’ Tottenham stat:
Tottenham looked like title contenders after the first 10 games of the Premier League this season, and Son Heung-min was on fire.
The South Korean has always been one of the best players in the Premier League, but there was added responsibility on his shoulders this season following Harry Kane‘s departure in the summer.
Son stepped up for Tottenham in that number nine role. He managed to score eight goals and provide an assist in the first 10 games of the season, and Spurs were arguably the best team in the country at that stage.
Since then, however, Tottenham have managed to pick up just a point. They became the first team in Premier League history to take the lead in five consecutive games and fail to win any of them.
In his post-match interview on Amazon Prime Video Sport, Son was asked about the above statistic.
He replied: “It is unacceptable. Unacceptable!”
It could get worse for Tottenham:
That is a shocking statistic if you’re a Tottenham fan, and even Arsenal old-boy Mesut Ozil is mocking them on social media.
Five games without a win has pushed Spurs outside the top four, and things could get even worse for Ange Postecoiglou’s side this weekend.
Tottenham take on Newcastle United next, who also suffered a defeat last night. They were battered 3-0 by Everton, and Eddie Howe’s side will be looking to bounce back.
Spurs cannot take this game lightly. If they aren’t at their best, Newcastle could really hurt them, and six games without a win would not be a great look at all.
