Leicester City defender Victor Kristiansen is “not fully convincing” with his performances at Bologna.

The 20-year-old is on a season-long loan at the Serie A club and is unlikely to have a future at City under Enzo Maresca because he does not fit the style of play now on show at the King Power Stadium.

Kristiansen has also been critical about his time at Leicester, after joining from Copenhagen in the January transfer window at the start of this year. He had made clear he sees his future away from the King Power Stadium.

He was also hopeful of staying put at Bologna, but a report from Italy suggests that is now unlikely. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kristiansen has not been “fully convincing” at Bologna, who are likely to baulk at the €14 million (£12m) asking price Leicester have set.

“It has been hard,” Kristiansen said last month. “I probably experienced the hardest way to go abroad. I joined a dysfunctional team with a coach (Brendan Rodgers) under pressure, who was then fired. I was in a difficult position as a young and newly acquired player, where I suddenly had to help save the club.

“I was alone and thought for a quiet moment if it is really like this to be abroad. It was hard to deal with, and it has left some scars on the soul. It was definitely not what I was hoping for when I went out.

“That’s why I was happy that this summer we could find a solution, so I was loaned out to Bologna. I have settled in very well at Bologna and hope that we will find a good solution next summer.”
