Gary Neville thinks Tottenham’s midfielders Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are not good enough to play with Anzhet.
Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have impressed Ange Postecoglou since day one and the duo have established themselves as a starting duo.
But Spursa will have a headache when these two go to AFCON in January and miss 4-6 matches.
Tottenham are in an injury crisis with Bentancur and Maddison sidelined. They will be left with Skipp and Hojbjerg, two players that Ange obviously doesn’t like too much.
Hojbjerg has played consistently and reliably since joining the Spurs, but his style of play is more passive and doesn’t fit Ange’s ball.
Meanwhile, even Skipp has not impressed Ange, who has seen him fall even below Sarr in the player rankings.
Gary Neville, on the other hand, said that Ange had a “big” problem ahead of him with Sarr and Bissouma absent.
Neville told Sky Sports (via TeamTalk):
“Skipp is a good technical player, Hojberg is physical, but both are missing the other side of the game. Skipp can’t move around the court and Hojberg is not good technically.
“But this guy (Sarr) together with Bissouma is perfect for how this team wants to play. When he doesn’t play, they don’t win.
“They have energy and technical ability with the ball, they link the back with the front, they are brave and I have to say that the most important thing for Spurs is that they have to keep these players fit and in January they lose these two – that’s a big problem.”
Spurs are back to winning ways with consecutive victories over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. Their next game is next Saturday against Everton, which will be a tough challenge for Angel.
