According to the Sunday Mirror (17 December, page 74), West Ham are ready to listen to offers for Said Benrahma in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has made just four Premier League appearances this season, with seven appearances on the bench. He has yet to score a goal this season and has just one assist in the league.
Benrahma has made over 145 appearances for the Kladivar since joining the club from Brentford in 2020, scoring 26 goals. Last season, he scored a “stunning” goal against Crystal Palace, which was described as “unstoppable” in the Premier League.
He is paid £55,000 a week at the London club and has two years left on his current contract. The Sunday Mirror claims that Lyon of France and clubs from Saudi Arabia want him.
A massive departure is needed for a makeover:
Benrahma has shown flashes of brilliance over the years but has never managed to reach the dizzy heights many expected of him. He scored 12 goals in all competitions last season, but didn’t leave a strong impact like Jarrod Bowen or Mohamed Kudus.
It’s about time Moyes let him go to another club and brought in a quality attacking midfielder in January. In addition to Benrahma, Moyes is also keen to alienate German defender Thilo Keherer. Keherer wants to return to Germany and Eintracht Frankfurt from the Bundesliga have shown interest in the versatile defender.
West Ham have done well in European matches this season but have been very inconsistent in the Premier League.
Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell and Maxwel Cornet are also available, while Ben Johnson could leave in the January transfer window as he is in the last six months of his contract.
Pablo Fornals is also likely to leave either in January or at the end of the season.
