Arsenal believe Victor Osimhen will join the club in the summer, although Napoli are interested in Gabriel Jesus in the opposite direction.
Football insider Mo (@MoArsenal86) reports that sources claim Arsenal believe Victor Osimhen will join the club in the summer.
The same source adds that Napoli are interested in Gabriel Jesús, but Mo writes that he doesn’t expect Arsenal to let the striker go.
Earlier this week, Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato confirmed recent reports that Victor Osimhen will sign a new contract with Napoli, and also the news that the contract will contain a release clause.
According to Venerato, the clause is 112 million pounds, but could rise to 120 million pounds.
Venerato also confirmed that Arsenal had already contacted Osimhenov’s agent and that the extension of the player’s contract is actually more of a “planned farewell”.
However, the Gunners are not the only team in the race, as Chelsea are also on his trail.
Charles Watts reported in May 2022 that Arsenal were in talks with Osimhenov’s agent, who flew to London to meet with Edu Gaspar.
At the time, Napoli were unwilling to sell, so Arsenal turned to Gabriel Jesus instead.
But Watts said on his YouTube channel in November that Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen would not disappear and that the Gunners really wanted the striker in the summer.
Osimhen has scored seven goals and two assists in 15 Serie A and Champions League appearances this season.
He has helped Napoli to a place in the last 16 in Europe, where they could face Arsenal depending on the results of Monday’s draw.
