Arsenal are now interested in signing Dominic Solanke:
The Daily Star reports that Arsenal are keeping a close eye on Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.
The Bournemouth striker has been the subject of heavy ridicule after scoring four goals in his first 46 games for the Cherries, who he joined from Liverpool in 2019.
But no one is laughing now, as Solanke has scored eight goals in 16 Premier League games this season.
The 26-year-old is now playing his best football ever and it’s no surprise that the Premier League’s top clubs are keeping an eye on him.
People at Arsenal are said to be impressed with Solanke and Arteta wants him if Toney cannot be signed.
Arsenal don’t want to spend a lot of money, but Bournemouth want £50 million, which is not surprising as they value their star player very highly.
Tottenham Hotspur and former club Chelsea are also said to be interested in Solanke, who is under contract until 2027.
How much did Liverpool sell Solanke for?
Solanke has been the target of ridicule in recent years because Bournemouth paid a high price for his services.
The Cherries paid £19 million for Solanke, who scored just one goal in 27 games for Liverpool.
Solanke lasted only 18 months at Liverpool and many were surprised by Bournemouth’s decision to spend a lot of money on him.
It took a while to pay off, but Solanke has scored 58 goals in his last 135 games for Bournemouth, proving that he is a quality striker.
After more than six years since his only England captaincy laurel, Solanke seems to be knocking on the door again – and as a reward for his improvement he could afford a big January move.
Described as a “dream” centre-forward by former Cherries boss Gary O’Neil, Solanke is on the up and he could return to London after leaving Chelsea in 2017.
