Football Insider has been told that Ryan Sessegnon and Micky van de Ven are the closest players to returning from Tottenham’s injured list, with both expected back in January.
Although Ange Postecoglou has strengthened in recent weeks with the return of Richarlison and Pape Matar Sarr, Tottenham’s injured list is still long, with Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic on the treatment table alongside Sessegnon and Van de Ven.
Alasdair Gold of Football.London reported on Sessegnon last week, stating that the left-sided defender is now in the final stages of his rehabilitation and could be back in a few weeks.
Football Insider have now claimed that both Sessegnon and Van de Ven are in advanced stages of their rehabilitation programmes.
According to the portal, the Dutchman and the former Fulham star should be back in action before the end of January.
Meanwhile, Paul O Keefe, who frequently posts updates on social media about the developments at Hotspur Way, said that Van de Ven has started training outdoors, suggesting that the central defender could return for the FA Cup match against Burnley on 5 January.
Although Davies has done a good job over the last few weeks, Van de Ven’s return would be a big boost as the Dutchman’s ability on the ball not only helps our play, but his speed of recovery means the team can afford to line up a little higher and press the opposition on the pitch.
