Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in contact with representatives of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
Trevoh Chalobah has been strongly linked with a move to AS Roma, but Tottenham have contacted the 24-year-old’s representatives about a move to north London, according to TEAMtalk.
He has not played this season due to injury. However, there is a strong possibility that Mauricio Pochettino would still have overlooked him had he been healthy.
The Argentine has Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashil and Levi Colville, all of whom can play at centre-back.
Chelsea fans will not be happy:
Chelsea fans would obviously be quite upset if another home-grown product left the club for a London rival.
At the same time, they might have some understanding. Pochettino again has plenty of players who can play in central defence.
Chalobah is unlikely to get much game time after returning from injury, so the move makes sense.
It is a bit disappointing and hopefully the former England Under-21 international will not join Tottenham and will instead move to another Premier League club. However, if he does decide to go to north London, we cannot blame him.
Whatever happens, Chalobah has had some great moments at Stamford Bridge, helping Chelsea win both the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup under Thomas Tuchel.
It would have been great if he had stayed at the club, but Pochettino can only play with two central defenders in his current system, which puts Chalobah at a disadvantage.
