GOOD NEWS – Ange Postecoglou is HAPPY as Spurs top star spotted in training for the first time after long term injury

Tottenham Hotspur’s promising 18-year-old central defender Ashley Phillips, who was injured in November during his military service in the England Under-19s, seems to be making great strides towards recovery.

Phillips, who has been absent from the pitch since the international break, was spotted training in the gym with first team players, a positive step in his rehabilitation process.

In early December, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Phillips is likely to be out until the New Year.

However, it seems that his return is imminent. Tottenham posted a video of today’s training session on their X account, in which the Spurs player was seen training in the gym and the former Blackburn defender was also seen in the video.

The young defender came to Spurs from Blackburn Rovers in the summer for reportedly £2 million and immediately caught the eye of manager Anzhet, who decided not to send him out on loan.

Phillips made a big splash at Blackburn, racking up 14 appearances in all competitions at just 17 years of age.

After Micky van de Ven’s injury and Romero’s suspension, it was rumoured that Ange was ready to give Phillips a chance in the first team.

Unfortunately, a premature injury reduced his chances of immediate inclusion and cut short his progression to the senior team.
