Ange Postecoglou is NOT messing around as Levy offers Spurs Top-class BEAST in sensational swap deal for EPL World-class captain, he’d form a formidable partnership with James Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Chelsea in a swap deal to sign England midfielder Conor Gallagher in the January transfer window.

Spurs coach Ange Postecoglou is keen to strengthen his squad in the upcoming winter transfer window. Tottenham started strongly under the Australian’s guidance, but their season started to falter after a few injuries. Cristian Romero and Yves Bissouma have also shown indiscipline.

Liverpool alone also received four red cards in the opening 17 games of the Premier League season. Bissouma has taken two of Tottenham’s four bookings so far, while Romero and Destiny Udogie have received one each. Bissouma and Udogie have also received five yellow cards each.

Due to Tottenham’s difficulty to field a full strength side, Spurs have gone from an unbeaten club after 10 games to losing four of their next five. Sky Sports now reports that Postecoglou is keen to sign a new central midfielder as a priority in January. But Gallagher is also on Tottenham’s radar.

Postecoglou wants to improve the back line but has to shop around in January with a limited budget. Therefore, Tottenham are internally discussing a swap of Hojbjerg with Chelsea in exchange for Gallagher’s transfer. A number of buyers are interested in Hojbjerg, including Juventus.

Sky Sports does not indicate Chelsea’s position on the swap deal, but adds that the Blues want to sign the defensive midfielder. Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to get another deep-lying option at Stamford Bridge will also be strengthened if Gallagher leaves in the upcoming mid-season sell-off.

Conor Gallagher was an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea team
Tottenham are happy to cut Hojbjerg for Gallagher’s transfer from Chelsea, as Postecoglou does not yet trust the 28-year-old. Although the Spurs boss labelled the Dane “excellent” earlier this month, Hojbjerg has started just three of his 16 Premier League games this term.

In addition, he has played only 577 minutes out of a possible 1620, although he has been fit for all matches. Gallagher, however, was a regular part of Pochettino’s plans. The 23-year-old appeared in all 16 games and captained the Blues eight times.

Chelsea were only without Gallagher once in the 2023/24 season, when he received a red card for two fouls. He was sent off against Brighton & Hove Albion and was unable to play in the 2-1 defeat at Manchester United. The England star, who has scored 11 national team goals this season, has four assists this season.
