Ange Postecoglou said that Chris Davies’ decision to stay at Tottenham Hotspur was a great boost for the team and acknowledged that his assistant was a key part of the ongoing project at the North London club.
It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Davies, who joined Postecoglou’s coaching staff in the summer, is one of Swansea City’s main managerial targets (Wales Online).
However, Tottenham rejected the Championship club’s initial approach (Matt Law), and last week it emerged that the Welsh club had decided to go for other names after the 38-year-old decided to stay at Hotspur Way (BBC Sport).
Alasdair Gold explained a few days ago that Davies is enjoying his time at Spurs, adding that it would take a “special” offer to persuade the former Leicester City manager to make the switch.

Postecoglou expressed his delight at the outcome but revealed that he had not spoken much with Davies about Swansea’s approach and had allowed his assistant to make his own decision.
Asked about Davies’ decision to stay at Tottenham, the Spurs head coach told Football.London: “I didn’t speak to him much. Chris has kind of decided he wants to be here. That’s great for us.
“He’s made a really key contribution to what we’re doing and he’s part of what I think is a very interesting coaching group because they’re all kind of young guys who are really determined to make an impact. Great for me.
“As I said before, you want the best people, and if you have the best people, they will always attract the attention of others. It’s always better if they decide to stay with us rather than us somehow forcing them to do it. Chris somehow decided that this was the right place for him and I’m glad to have him on the team.”
By all accounts Davies has made a great impression on the Tottenham squad and is the man who runs training sessions on a daily basis.
So it would be a big blow for Spurs to lose the 38-year-old, especially given their busy schedule over the next month or two. Postecoglou would be very relieved if his assistant were to make a decision.
