West Ham star risks the wrath of Angry Irons after publicly backing David Moyes amid calls for the Scottish tactician to be SACKED

Vladimir Coufal says West Ham have silenced the noise over criticism of manager David Moyes and welcomed the Scot’s work in east London.

The Hammers will spend Christmas in seventh place in the Premier League after Saturday’s win over Manchester United and are already among the last 16 teams in the Europa League.

Moyes, meanwhile, came under a hammering after the team’s 5-1 defeat at Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in midweek, when they were beaten by a rotation.

Moyes ended the Kladivars’ 43-year trophy drought last season by triumphing in the Europa League Conference in Prague, but some fans have remained critical of his style of play and the 61-year-old’s future remains up in the air as the final six months of his contract expire.

“I don’t read the newspapers or the discussions on Twitter,” Coufal said. “The fans always have some opinions and have the right to say what they want, but it’s all up to us on the pitch.

“We shouldn’t beat ourselves up about it, it’s been a very good season so far. We won our Europa League group and we are seventh in the standings with 30 points. We had some bad results, but that’s football.

“He’s doing a great job, he’s won the first trophy for West Ham in nearly 50 years. He finished sixth and seventh in the league and now we are seventh. The results are behind him. Sometimes we don’t play the best football, but as far as the results are concerned, everything is fine.”

The Hammers again had their moody front three to thank for inspiration in their win over a poor Man United side on Saturday, with Lucas Paqueta setting up goals for Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus.

This trio has been a revelation this term, with Bowen becoming the central striker, Paqueta moving to the left side and Kudus signing for Ajax.

“We’ve changed the team a lot, we’ve brought in some new players,” Coufal said of the new Hammers’ forward line. “There are some great players, so we had to settle down a bit. Now you can see what these three are capable of.

“It’s amazing to watch them, it’s a pleasure for the fans to watch them. Especially Paquet, who sometimes makes… wow. It’s incredible.”
