According to injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, Tottenham’s centre-forward Rodrigo Bentancur is unlikely to return to first-team training until the first week of January.
The Uruguayan returned to the first team after a long-term injury which kept him out from February to November.
Unfortunately, his return was short-lived as he injured his ankle in his first appearance in nine months. Matty Cash’s ferocious tackle against Aston Villa caused the injury which sidelined him again.
Ange said at the beginning of December that he would be out for two months, so he is expected to return at the end of January.
Speaking to Tottenham News, the injury specialist claimed that his routine will focus on the rehabilitation components for the time being, and then he will concentrate on returning to the training pitch.
He said, “The training that will take place on the pitch will start at the moment:
“If it’s two months, as Ange says, then his current training routine is still very much focused on the rehabilitation components and then on getting back on the pitch.
“It’s hard to say how far away he is from individual training because it depends on how he responds to the increase in intensity.
“It seems unlikely that he will return to full-team training in the next week or two, but a return to individual training may be in sight soon.”
The Spurs are expected to sign a new midfielder in the upcoming transfer window and one of the names they are most linked with is Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips.
Spurs will be without Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, Bentancur and James Maddison in January, leaving Anže without options in the middle of the park.
It will be crucial for the Spurs to sign a new midfielder and defender at the start of the transfer window.
