Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that some players are “probably” already thinking of moving elsewhere in January.
Leicester City have had a fantastic season so far, but another important transfer deadline is looming. The January transfer window offers the Foxes a chance to strengthen, but their resolve may also be tested in terms of possible departures.
There may be those who want to leave, either because of lack of playing time or because they want to move to pastures new for their own reasons. Before the transfer deadline, the Maresca manager admitted that these thoughts had probably already started among some.
According to Leicestershire Live, the Leicester City boss said it would be better if his players were not thinking about January. However, he admitted that this is “normal” but time will tell whether anyone will demand to leave.
“At the moment I don’t want them to think about January,” he said. “Even if they are probably already thinking about January, some of them are, because that’s normal. In January we will see if any of them will come to ask to leave, we will see how we can find solutions for them and for us.
“The only thing I can say is that for us the situation on the January market is quite clear. As a club we know what we need. We will see.”

As Leicestershire Live noted, players will have to leave to be able to come in. Leicester City’s 25-man squad is currently full, so some of the new players will have to come out for the second half of the season.
If some players express a wish to leave, the Foxes will hope to move them in the early stages of the transfer window to give them time to find replacements. Unless, of course, they are key players, in which case they will hope to persuade them to stay and discourage interest in their services.
Maresca wants to concentrate on matters on the pitch. Leicester are firmly in contention for the title, top of the table and six points ahead of Ipswich Town.
