JUST IN – Cuti Romero’s injury blow SOLVED as Exceptional star rejects offers from other club, says YES to Spurs move, Deal could be completed next week according to Fabrizio

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Genoa defender Radu Dragusin to join the Premier League club.

It is widely known that Tottenham’s priority is to sign a new central defender.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero worked well together at the start of this season but have been hit by injuries recently.

Van de Ven has not played for the Spurs since November due to a hamstring injury. He is expected to return soon, while Romero is ruled out for about a month with a thigh muscle injury.

Ange Postecoglou wants to sign a defender in early January to ease his problems at central defender, and they have been strongly linked with Jean-Clair Todiba, a £35m Man Utd target who plays for Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s OGC Nice.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham’s move for Todiba could “soon fall through” as Nice will be “slow”, while Premier League management “want the new central defender to join next week”.

Regarding Tottenham’s interest in Dragusin, Romano added: “Tottenham are ready to send a first verbal offer for Radu Dragusin after talks with Genoa started last night, as revealed. Dragusin has already agreed.”

Dragusin joined Genoa permanently from Juventus after an initial loan deal earlier this year for around €7.5 million.

The 21-year-old – who is a senior Romania international – has emerged as one of the best young central defenders in Serie A, and his agent – Florin Manea – has admitted that he could go to a “very important team”.

“In my opinion, if he leaves Genoa, he has to go to a very important team. I’m talking about one of the top five or six in the first league, the best in Italy, like Inter or Milan,” said Manea.

“I mention these names as examples, without saying that they are interested. They are very strong teams and we would be happy if they were interested. We are now thinking about doing it.”

Asked if Dragusin could sign a new contract, Manea added: “We said we would talk after the transfer deadline. We don’t want to leave either, we are starting from that assumption. But then, if an important club comes that can make a leap in his career, it’s normal that they can evaluate him.

“Like Genoa, if an important figure comes in, from what we have read, there is talk of possible offers of €30 million. In life, certain trains come once or twice, but we are in no hurry to leave, many teams have called and are interested.

“If something comes out of this, fine, but otherwise we are happy here and after the end of the transfer window we will definitely find an agreement for an extension.”
