Sevilla and West Ham have agreed to continue negotiations on the possible transfer of Pablo Fornals, with contacts between the two clubs ongoing since last summer, according to Estadio Deportivo.
On 28 December, the Spanish media reported that Sevilla were forced to wait due to their financial situation, as they had initially planned to sign the centre-forward in the summer.
West Ham decided to extend Fornals’ contract for another year, but the deal was originally due to expire in the summer, meaning that a free transfer would now be out of the question.
A transfer seems inevitable:
For months there has been speculation about Fornals’ future at West Ham after he fell out of favour with David Moyes due to the form and visibility of Lucas Paquet, Mohamed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Thomas Soucek in the first team.
With Sevilla circling and seemingly in constant communication with the Hammers, this seems to be the most likely destination should a deal materialise, and based on the report, it seems that both clubs are willing to make a deal happen.
With a lack of playing time and some disappointing performances in East London, a deal is looking more and more inevitable by the week and it now seems to be a question of whether Fornals will leave the London Stadium, not when.
Fornals has started just two Premier League games this season, so a move away from West Ham would suit him as well as the interested clubs, and if the Hammers can secure a fee for his services, it may be the best option for all concerned.
