Leicester City have been linked with an ambitious purchase of highly-rated central defender Sao Paulo in the January transfer window.
According to Jorge Nicol (via Caught Offside), 20-year-old Beraldo is on the radar of the Foxes, who want to return to the Premier League immediately this season.
However, the player will travel to France in the next 24 hours for a “medical” ahead of a €20 million move to PSG that will end Enzo Maresco’s hopes of luring the youngster to the King Power stadium this winter, according to the latest news from reporter Romano at X (see below).
A coup for Leicester City:
Beraldo will be a big blow for Leicester as he would be a great long-term option for them in defence. However, they would find it difficult to compete with PSG on this particular transfer.
The promising midfielder started his career at União Barbarense and XV de Piracicaba before joining Sao Paulo in 2020.
Since then, he has broken into the first team of his current club, amassing 48 appearances for them this season. However, like many young Brazilians before him, he is now ready to move to Europe.
Leicester will now have to consider possible alternative targets. At the moment, their main focus is on the title fight.
After their last 1-1 draw with Tractor Boys, they now have a six-point lead over Ipswich Town.
Maresco’s men have impressed this term and are back in action tomorrow night with an away trip to Wales to take on Cardiff City.
