We are pleased to announce that we have signed a contract with Swedish international actress Matilde Vinberg, who needs to obtain a work permit and an international permit.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder joins us after the expiry of her contract with Hammarby IF and is contracted to us until 2026.
Matilda was born in Stockholm and started her career with Enskede IK, where she made her debut in 2018 at just 15 years old.
In January 2021, she signed a contract with Swedish premier league side Hammarby and was named Damallsvenskan (league) Breakthrough Player of the Year and Hammarby Player of the Year at the end of her second season in 2022.
In the 2023 campaign, Matilda was a key part of Hammarby’s double victory, winning the Swedish Cup in June, beating Robert Vilahamn’s BK Häcken in the final, and securing the Damallsvenskan title in November.
Matilda progressed through the age groups on the international stage and will make her debut for the Swedish national team in November 2022.
What’s next for the women’s team:
The historic win against Arsenal was followed by good news off the pitch for Robert Vilahamn and our women’s team.
Key central midfielders Olga Ahtinen and Eveliina Summanen are planning to return to action in time for the Women’s Super League return in January.
Olga, who was appointed by Robert as vice-captain for the 2023/24 season, injured her knee against Liverpool on 12 November, while Eveliina has been out since November with a thigh muscle problem.
The Finnish national team could now be ready to face West Ham at Dagenham & Redbridge FC on Sunday 21 January (18.45).
