Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are considering signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this month.
According to TuttoJuve, the Premier League giants are keen on a move for the striker and hope to conclude a deal this transfer window.
Osimhen is considered one of the best strikers in the world and Arsenal’s rivals Chelsea are also keen on signing him.
The 25-year-old Nigerian striker recently signed a contract with the Italian club. His current contract expires in 2026.
The Serie A Golden Boot winner has a release clause in his current contract. According to the Independent, the release clause amounts to £120 million.
In order to sign Osimhen, Arsenal will have to break their transfer record of £100 million, which is what they paid West Ham for Declan Rice in the summer.
The striker is Arteta’s priority as the Gunners look to add goals to their failing attack. Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah have all looked poor this season.
TuttoJuve also listed two other transfer targets for Arsene: Brentford striker Ivan Toney and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
This clearly shows that Arteta wants to solve the main problem facing Arsenal this month.
The Premier League club has failed to convert the chances it has created and recent defeats against Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham have shown that Arsenal lack firepower up front.
Arsenal have fallen from the top of the Premier League to fourth place in ten days. They need to add to their squad in order not to lose their position in the title fight.
