“It feels surreal, definitely a dream come true, I’m excited to get started” – Tottenham confirms the signing of 22-year old star with same Nationality as Ange Postecoglou as player signs 3-year deal until 2026

Tottenham Hotspur announce the signing of Australian international Charlotte Grant after the expiry of her contract with Vittsjö GIK.

The 22-year-old defender has agreed to terms that will see her remain with the team until 2026, pending her work permit and international clearance.

A native of Adelaide, Grant began her professional career with Adelaide United in October 2018 and has made 34 league appearances.

She moved to Sweden in April 2021 to play for Rosengård, before being loaned to Vittsjö GIK, and finally transferred permanently in January 2023.

The Australian international, who scored her first international goal against England and was part of the Matildas’ semi-final team at the 2023 World Cup, has won 21 caps for her country.

Charlotte described her transfer to SPURSPLAY and expressed her excitement: “It feels very surreal. It’s definitely a dream come true and I’m excited to get started. What we are building at the club is something special and something I wanted to be a part of.”

She also spoke highly of Robert Vilahamn, now her coach at Tottenham, who previously coached against her in Sweden.

“Robert definitely put me over the line, he gave me a good feeling, he coached against me in Sweden and his team was always very competitive and the style of play is something I want to be part of, so I’m really grateful to be here.”

Grant praised the high pressure and technical style of Villahamne’s teams and is looking forward to playing under his guidance rather than facing his teams.

Reflecting on his national team experience and style of play, Grant said, “To score my first goal was an incredible moment. Every time you put on the national team jersey, it’s a great honour…”

“I’m a hard-working, attacking player, as a full-back I like to put my feet up and that’s what helped me get here because Robert loves that about full-backs, so I’m looking forward to showing that on the pitch.”

Grant has already met his new teammates at Tottenham and is excited about the future.

“I’ve had a lot of fun meeting all my new teammates, they’ve been very welcoming and it feels like I’ve been part of the team for a long time but I’ve only been here for one day so I’m excited to see what the future holds,” she said.
