West Ham striker Michail Antonio expressed surprise when he heard that the club was linked with Tottenham’s Eric Dier.
Dier is expected to leave Spurs, as they have regressed badly under the management of Ange Postecoglou. A move to Bayern Munich is being announced for Dier as the German club are exploring their options.
However, Dier has also been suggested as a player who could be signed by West Ham. David Moyes wants to strengthen the squad in January and Dier is one of the names being mentioned.
Speaking to Footballer’s Football Podcast, Kladivar striker Antonio expressed his surprise at the news.
Michail Antonio reacted to Eric Dier’s links with West Ham:
Speaking to Callum Wilson on the podcast, Antonio admitted his surprise and hinted that he hadn’t heard anything about transfers this month.
“I’ve only heard about it now that you’ve told me. So I can’t tell you a single thing, to be honest. This is the first year I haven’t paid attention to Twitter or anything, I haven’t paid attention to which players are coming. I went to training this morning and it was only after training that I realised that there was no player training, but there was somebody who was having a medical check-up. I told myself that he would go. It’s one of those things where things just happen and the players have no idea what’s going on, especially at West Ham where I’m often very surprised because usually things are revealed before they happen, 95% of the time it’s the first quiet window in the nine years I’ve been at West Ham,” said Antonio.
Kladivar fans wouldn’t want Dier:
I can’t speak for everyone, but should West Ham be looking elsewhere rather than a player who doesn’t fit in with one of London’s rivals?
Moving abroad now seems the logical step for Eric Dier, and a move across London to West Ham would only bring unnecessary pressure.
Kladivar fans would be waiting for him to make his first mistake and you get the impression that it could be a nightmare for him if he doesn’t do well from the start.
West Ham can do better. They don’t need Eric Dier at the moment and they have other players they can certainly focus on.
