Tottenham beat Burnley 1-0 in the FA Cup on Friday night, but despite the result there were some negative things.
Spurs weren’t at their best against the Clarets and there were injury concerns during the game as Ben Davies suffered a hamstring problem.
After a string of excellent performances, Davies’ injury came at the wrong time for Tottenham and unfortunately it seems he is not the only player suffering at the moment.
According to Tom Barclay, speaking on The Tottenham Way Podcast, Giovani Lo Celso, who has been substituted for Bryan Gil, may also be injured.
Lo Celso may be injured
Barclay shared an update on the “magnificent” Argentine.
“Lo Celso also came off for Bryan Gil, I wondered at the time if it was a tactical decision because it wasn’t really happening, but it turns out he might have been injured, but we’re waiting to see how that turns out,” Barclay said.
Catastrophic:
Tottenham can’t stop themselves at the moment when it comes to injuries.
Spurs have so many first-team players at the moment it’s hard to count, and they have also lost three first-team stars to international commitments at the Asian Cup and African Cup of Nations.
Tottenham are so weak at the moment, especially in midfield, that an injury to Lo Celso is the last thing they needed.
Of course, James Maddison is expected to return soon, which should ease the burden, but it is still far from an ideal situation for Tottenham to find themselves in.
Let’s hope that Lo Celso’s injury is only minor and that he won’t be out for too long, as Spurs are really struggling for any depth at the moment.
