West Ham will lose one of their main strikers, who they wanted to get in a fierce competition.
Before the transfer deadline, it was very clear that West Ham’s priority was to sign a striker. A number of quality players have been linked with a move to East London this January.
But none was as interesting as former Chelsea striker Timo Werner. The German international did not live up to expectations when he moved to the Blues and since his return to RB Leipzig he has become more of a squad player.
In order to keep his place in the national team, Werner is desperate for a transfer and our ExWHUEmployee has revealed the possibility of him arriving at the London Stadium as a loan player in January.
Unfortunately, the Ironmen are expected to miss out on his signature and, to top it all off, Tottenham are expected to secure his services, Fabrizio Romano said.
“Timo Werner has accepted Spurs’ proposal as he wants to return to the Premier League,” X told his 19.4 million Twitter followers.
“He is very keen to work with Anzhet Postecoglou. Postecoglou has also agreed to the deal. Negotiations between Leipzig and Tottenham on a loan and a possible buy-out clause are ongoing today.”
After all, whoever took him took a big risk. He has all the qualities of a world-class striker, but he simply does not score the goals to prove it. He will thrive in the right system, but whether that will be under Ange’s leadership remains to be seen.
On the other hand, David Moyes’ counter-attacking style of football would suit his style of play, at least on paper.
