Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and boss Marco Rose has hinted that a departure is in sight.

Marco Rose comments on Timo Werner’s future during Tottenham Hotspur chase
Tottenham are close to signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to HITC Football.
Spurs are now favourites to sign Werner on loan, although they have offered Werner to other Premier League clubs.
Crystal Palace, Fulham, Manchester United and West Ham United have all been invited to buy Werner this month.
However, Tottenham are now leading the race and appear to be closing in on a deal to bring Werner back to the Premier League.
RB Leipzig did not include Werner in its squad for the match with St Gallen on Saturday afternoon, confirming that it is in talks with another club.
Boss Marco Rose has now told Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze that the rumours about Werner’s loan are “correct”.
Rose admitted that Werner wants to leave so that he can play regularly and compete for a place in the Germany squad for Euro 2024.
RB Leipzig wishes Werner all the best and hopes he will shine in England with Tottenham.
“It’s right that Timo wants to leave on loan,” said Rose. “Timo would like to go to the European Championships. We wish him all the best and our fingers are crossed for him,” he added.
Werner now seems ready for another chance in the Premier League after struggling to show his best form at Chelsea in the past.
The 27-year-old proved his worth in his first spell at RB Leipzig and secured a big transfer to Chelsea in 2020.
Werner has not quite replicated his Bundesliga form in the Premier League, scoring just 10 goals in 56 league games for the Blues.
He was sold back to RB Leipzig for £25 million in 2022, but now Werner has been relegated to the lower ranks of the competition and appears to be free to leave.
Tottenham are now hoping that Werner will rediscover his best form under Postecoglou’s guidance and perhaps earn a permanent return to English football.
