Tottenham are reportedly hoping to confirm the signing of Timo Werner this week to play against Manchester United.
Werner is due to undergo a medical in London and Spurs will take over his wages until the end of the campaign.
Werner, who experienced the Premier League during his time at Chelsea where he scored 23 goals in 89 appearances before returning to RB Leipzig in 2022, brings a familiarity with English football to his new venture.
The former Chelsea striker will join Ange Postecoglou’s team on loan until the end of the season, and Werner is expected to add pace and firepower to Tottenham’s attacking ranks.
The German striker, who has scored two goals in 14 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, missed the friendly against St. Gallen, which was attributed to ongoing transfer talks.
The 27-year-old striker has struggled with injuries and form this season, and Hansi Flick labelled Werner an “underrated” player during his time at Chelsea.
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are hoping to sign Werner later this week and the striker will feature against United in the Premier League this weekend.
Werner’s arrival in the coming days will be very important for Tottenham’s January preparations for the rest of the Premier League season.
