West Ham United want to sign a talented young winger in the January transfer window.
David Moyes is clearly keen to see West Ham get some reinforcements in attack before the January transfer window closes.
The Hammers boss is currently without Mohamed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paquet and Michail Antonio.
Unfortunately for us, that could remain the case for some time, but Sunderland star Jack Clarke seems to be someone Moyes really wants to sign, as the Black Cats are demanding £20 million for the 23-year-old.
Now, however, West Ham seem to be pursuing the former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United striker at an even more accelerated pace.
That’s because we’ve apparently already approached Sunderland to take him off the Stadium of Light…
According to the Mirror (print edition 11 January, page 53), the Hammers have decided to sign the Sunderland winger.
However, Moyes faces a big problem – Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Brentford are also bidding for Clark’s signature.
Listen, Clarke is a very decent player and could become an elite player. But I’m not sure he has what it takes to come to West Ham this month and make an immediate impact.
He cheated for Sunderland in the FA Cup against Newcastle on Saturday and perhaps that was proof that he’s not quite ready to take on the big boys.
But maybe it was just a bad day for him. The 23-year-old has really impressed for Sunderland this season, scoring 12 goals and two assists in just 26 games in the Championship (Transfermarkt).
So he is clearly capable of scoring and creating goals. The Black Cats’ ace has exceptional technical skills and is very direct when he has the ball at his feet.
If West Ham sign a winger in January, I will certainly accept him, but I will not sleep if we let him go either.
