Tottenham are still struggling with a long injury list, compounded by the absence of captain Heung-Min Son.
The Spurs captain will miss the next few weeks on club duty as he leads South Korea in the Asian Cup on hold, which starts this week in Qatar, while Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr – who has shaken off a hamstring problem – are also now on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.
Tottenham struggled a bit in the FA Cup on Friday night without their talisman in attack, but ultimately thanked a superb goal from Pedro Porro to beat Premier League Burnley at home in the third round.
After a 3-1 win over Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, this is Ange Postecoglou’s third consecutive victory and Spurs are now focused on Arsenal’s possible leapfrogging into the top four and the even bigger plight of their north London rivals when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Tottenham’s injury problems continue in the New Year, with Ben Davies and Giovani Lo Celso both falling victim to hamstring injuries.
Yesterday, Paul O Keefe reported that the duo had picked up permanent thigh muscle problems, but another update from Tottenham’s football correspondent (@SecretPrem) claimed that the severity of the injuries was not yet certain.
Alasdair Gold has today shared an update (via Football London) on the Welsh defender’s injury and confirmed that he will be unavailable for an extended period (most likely 2 months).
After reporting on the behind-the-scenes goings-on at the club that led to Dragusin’s transfer, he confirmed the injuries to the aforementioned duo and revealed that Davies will be out for four to six weeks with a hamstring injury.
The absence of Ben Davies will certainly be a blow for Anzhi, given how good he has been since replacing Micky van de Ven, but the arrival of Radu Dragusin is a boost for the manager as it offers him additional defensive cover.
The Spurs may still have to sign another defender as Dier is close to a transfer to Bayern Munich, which will leave them short of players again in case of injuries.
