“Welcome to Tottenham” – Daniel Levy secures the SIGNING of Eric Dier’s replacement after he completes move to Bayern Munich as played could start in place of the INJURED 30-year old veteran at Old Trafford

Tottenham sign centre-back Radu Dragusin from Genoa, opening the way for Eric Dier to join Bayern Munich.

Romanian international Dragusin has signed a six-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs and is the club’s second signing of the January transfer window after Timo Werner arrived on loan on Tuesday.

The centre-back was always a priority for Ange Postecoglou this month and Tottenham have secured Dragusin in a deal that could climb to £25m, according to news agency PA.

The 21-year-old signed in time to make his Manchester United debut on Sunday following Ben Davies’ injury, and marks another change in tactics by the club from their previously adopted transfer strategy.

Spurs notoriously waited until the end of January to make winter signings, signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur on the last day of the window in 2022, and securing the services of Pedro Porro last year with a few minutes to spare.

Postecoglou has publicly expressed his desire to sign another central defender and that the key will be to bring in the newcomers early so that they can get to grips with his style of football as soon as possible.

The Australian got his wish as Dragusin fits the profile of the player Tottenham want under his leadership.

Dragusin progressed through Juventus’ academy and made his debut as a substitute against Dynamo Kiev in December 2020, before making his Serie A debut away at Genoa in the same month, when future teammates Kulushevski and Bentancur were also on the pitch.
