Richard Keys said that Tottenham would have beaten Manchester United yesterday if Heung-min Son had been available.

The South Korean superstar is currently on international duty at the Asian Games and the competition has left a number of Premier League clubs missing key players.

Tottenham have probably been hit the hardest, as Son is one of the best players in north London and has made a resurgence this season under the new Spurs management.

Keys wrote on his personal blog that Tottenham would have won all three points against United if Son had been available for selection.

Writing about Sunday’s Premier League spectacle, he said: “There were a lot of games on Sunday night: “One newspaper described the game at Old Trafford as a ‘thriller’. No, it wasn’t.

“A thriller has to involve two teams. United wasn’t. As Andy said to me on beINSPORTS, if Son had played, Spurs would have won that game easily.”

Since his £22 million move to Tottenham in 2015, Son’s influence at Spurs has never been greater, and this season the striker has taken the captain’s armband.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star has become one of the most dangerous strikers in the English Premier League this season with 12 goals and five assists.

He could have left Tottenham with three points had Son been available to lead north London against United yesterday.

Son is a player who has proven to be crucial in big games, and Tottenham could have done with the South Korean striker at Old Trafford yesterday.
