Tottenham could “close a deal early” for a very promising alternative to Chelsea star Conor Gallagher, who could even leave on the cheap.
Postecoglou wants to sign a new centre-half:
After signing Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin, manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly keen to sign a new central midfielder for Spurs.
The North Londoners are also in talks to sign Brugge sensation Antonio Nusa, but the 18-year-old is more of a future player who would join them with a buy-back option, similar to Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr.
Behind this deal, Spurs are still reportedly considering the purchase of Chelsea star Conor Gallagher. According to some suggestions, Tottenham are said to be in talks for Gallagher before 1 February, and Fabrizio Romano has not ruled out a bid for the 23-year-old.
The problem could be his new-found importance at Stamford Bridge, as the England international has become a key player under Mauricio Pochettino.
While there are reports that Chelsea could consider selling Gallagher to balance their FFP books, Pochettino might not be willing to let one of his star players leave mid-season, making this a rather complicated deal.
Although the press is not suggesting that Tottenham have definitively ruled out the possibility of transferring the central midfielder, it may be wise for the club to consider other options should a transfer not be possible.
Tottenham could “try to conclude a deal early” for Wharton:
Blackburn Rovers star Adam Wharton could be one of them, according to journalist Dean Jones, who writes for Sportslens.
The Englishman, who would complement Postecoglou’s home ranks, has been a mainstay for Rovers this season and is among the most regularly selected players at Ewood Park.
Jones claims that Tottenham “could be looking to do a deal as soon as possible” for Wharton, who could also be available for as little as £10 million.
Speaking to Rovers TV, Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson has already praised the 19-year-old for his quality and hints that he is a star in the making.
When I came here I noticed Adam’s quality on the ball straight away,” Tomasson told Rovers TV.
“I’ve encouraged him every day, he’s a young lad who wants to learn and has a great future. I encourage him every day, he needs to demand more from himself too.
“He is a great player but he still has a lot to learn off the ball. The important thing with Adam is that he wants to learn. He’s done a great job, he’s a positive guy and he’s already developed a lot and he has the mentality to get better every day.”
“It’s fun that he plays with his brother as well, it’s a great situation and it’s good that they don’t play in the same position otherwise there would be a big problem when it comes to family dinner!
“Adam can be commended for having coped with so many changes in such a short space of time.”
