Tottenham and Newcastle United were interested in Phillips earlier this month. However, West Ham appear to be closing in on a deal to sign the midfielder.

Moyes would benefit greatly from a player of Phillips’ quality, especially after the recent injury to Lucas Paquet.

Although the City starlet has a completely different profile to the Brazilian, he will provide Moyes with another quality option in the middle of the park.

It’s no secret that Phillips has struggled for minutes at City over the last year and will be keen to start playing regularly ahead of Evra.
