Newcastle United will make a key addition to their backroom staff with the transfer of a Leicester City player to the North East.
It has been an unusual season for Newcastle, who have suffered an incredible number of unexpected injuries, most recently Alexander Isak, who will be out for up to four weeks.
While many of these injuries have been unusual occurrences, Newcastle’s physio team have been the subject of much criticism, and according to Training Ground Guru, they will now add Jonny King to their squad.
Leicester’s old man wants to solve Newcastle’s problems:
Eddie Howe is in a very tricky position with no recognisable striker available due to the number of injuries in his squad, and Bruno Guimaraes is a yellow card away, leaving Sean Longstaff and Lewis Miley as the only options in midfield.
In an ideal world, Newcastle would make big moves in the January transfer window to solve the problem, but it doesn’t look like that will happen at all.
Instead, they may bring in someone to the medical team who might get some fresh ideas on what the team can do differently to avoid future injuries or help with current ones.
King will be reunited with Howe after spending almost a decade with him at Bournemouth, and will take over from Danny Murphy, the chief physio who left at the start of the year.
Newcastle thought his luck had turned:
A month into the New Year, things started to look a little more positive for Newcastle, with Jacob Murphy returning to the starting eleven and Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock expected to return in the near future.
That was before Isak received that new injury, which poses a big problem up front for Howe as Callum Wilson is also recovering from his latest injury.
This seems to be a never-ending problem for the Magpies, who will want to be very careful in how they get players back into the game when they do return, although Howe has at times been left with little option but to throw them straight back in.
