DONE DEAL – Premier League gaints confirm deadline day transfer for West Ham target after player signs until 2026

West Ham Midfield target Alfie Harrison has joined Newcastle United until the summer of 2026, signing for an undisclosed fee from Manchester City on a contract that is subject to approval.

The 18-year-old, who earned a reputation as a technically gifted player at the age of nine, will initially join City’s academy and will initially take part in Newcastle’s Professional Development Phase (PDP).

In the 2022/23 season, Harrison helped City’s young players to the Under-18 Premier League title, and this season he has gone on to score eight goals and four assists.

Speaking about joining the Academy, Harrison said: “The size of the club and everything it has behind it is huge for me. It has a huge, passionate fan base and now I want to continue my career.

“If I was a kid now and I saw that I had signed for Newcastle United, I could dream about it. I’m really looking forward to what’s to come and how I can progress in the years to come.

“I’m an effective player who can add goals and assists. I love to create things, but on the other hand I would say I am also a very passionate player who always wants to win.”

Academy Director Steve Harper added: “We are delighted to have secured Alfie’s signature. His desire to represent Newcastle United and continue his development with us was evident from the outset.

“He is a passionate and talented player who we will be delighted to welcome to the club and ultimately see in the black and white jersey.

“Alfie’s signing is part of a strategic move to rejuvenate our PDP squad, particularly the Under-21s, and I would like to thank the Board and everyone at the club who has been involved in making this move a reality.”
