Tottenham will look to record another Premier League win for the first time since mid-December when they host Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday 3 February.
On Wednesday 31 January, Spurs returned to the top four of the Premier League with a 3-2 win over Brentford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
They are currently ahead of fifth-placed Aston Villa on goals scored and will be looking to further cement their place in the Champions League qualifiers with three points on Merseyside.
Sean Dyche’s charges have drawn 0-0 in their last three league games and are without a win for the sixth time in the Premier League.
Spurs won 2-1 this season (23 December) and will be aiming for a double win over the Toffees for the first time since the 2017/18 season.
Ange Postecoglou will need to get his team selection right if they are to have any chance of achieving that goal, and the Australian is likely to make some changes in light of the win over Brentford in midweek.
Guglielmo Vicario is expected to start between the visitors’ posts, although he struggled with the ball against the Bees, completing just 65 per cent of his passes and finding a teammate on just two of his 10 long ball attempts forward (Sofascore).
Destiny Udogie is expected to continue at left-back, but like his compatriot, he struggled against Thomas Frank’s team. Although he was one of the scorers and equalised the game, he was suspect in defence as he was twice outplayed, won only 50% of the duels on the ground and made the fatal mistake that led to the goal.
Pedro Porro should continue at right-back and will hope to provide more quality in the final third than he did against Brentford after failing to provide a single accurate cross into the box in eight attempts. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are likely to be the centre-back pairing, with the former duo making a combined four tackles on Wednesday night, while the former completed 98% of his passes.
In the midfield, Postecoglou is likely to make some changes. Pope Matar Sarr could return to Spurs after Senegal crashed out of the African Cup of Nations. Rodrigo Bentancur struggled against Brentford before being sent off at half-time, and after such a long injury Postecoglou may want to rest the Uruguay international as Spurs prepare for their third game in eight days.
Sarr could therefore partner Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park. Skipp was also substituted at half-time during the week but was arguably better than Bentancur on the night, completing 96 per cent of his passes and winning four of his five duels down the ground, as well as completing the final attack.
James Maddison is likely to complete the midfield three after starting against Brentford for the first time since November. He lacked some competitive edge on his return to the starting line-up, but still showed his quality with three key passes and won nine of his 13 duels on the floor.
Dejan Kuleshevski could have been sent off by Postecoglou after completing only 78 per cent of his passes, failing to cross the box accurately in two attempts and being successful in only one of his three dribbling attempts against the Beekeepers. Brennan Johnson scored off the bench against Brentford and could be rewarded with a start at right-back.
Richarlison is likely to be named up top as he looks to score eight goals in eight Premier League games against his former club, while Timo Werner will be hoping to get the chance to build on his performance against Brentford in which he assisted, contributed three key passes and hit the woodwork with his shot.
