“Excitement at Spurs after his arrival” – Spurs Technical Director says Ange Postecoglou, Son Heung-min and the rest of the club is thrilled after landing the signing of Top-class star potentially better than Conor Gallagher

Johan Lange admitted that Hotspur Way is excited about the arrival of Lucas Bergvall and said that Tottenham wants to become one of the most attractive destinations for the best young players in world football.

Tottenham have been successful over the last few years with their strategy of signing young talent from all over Europe, with Pape Sarr, Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven having established themselves as key first-team players and well on their way to becoming superstars.

The club hopes that Bergvall will also follow this path, as the midfielder is considered one of the most promising young players in Swedish football at the moment.

Tottenham are said to have fought off competition from a number of big clubs from the Premier League and Europe (Expressen) for the 18-year-old Bergvall’s successor, and Lange has now hinted that the club wants to make more such signings in the next few windows.

Asked about the signing of Bervall, Spurs’ technical director told the club’s official channel: “It could be a talent that comes into our academy at the foundation stage or later, develops and goes through the academy, or, as in the case of Lucas, a player that we have decided to try and see if we can buy from a club abroad, in this case from Djurgardens.”

Tottenham is impressed with Lucas Bergvall:

Lange described the teenager’s playing qualities and revealed that the club was also attracted by the youngster’s personality.

He added: “Lucas is a very mature player, even though he has just turned 18. He is a full-blooded player who is very good in attack and can control the game. He also has a great work rate outside the game.

“He is mature as a person for his age and he has a very good family and support network around him. He has a lot of potential and he will join the team in the summer and become part of the first team, then he will just have to adapt to his new environment and adapt step by step.”

When it comes to young talents, it is very difficult to predict the speed of their development and whether they will sink or swim at the highest level.

Bergvall seems to be a determined youngster and at Hotspur Way under the guidance of Postecoglou he will have the ideal platform to fulfil his potential if he is led to do so.
