In recent weeks, Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has been linked with a move away from the club alongside Pierre Emile Hojbjerg.

The 23-year-old winger has been relegated to the lower ranks of the North London club and does not feature regularly for them.

The Spaniard has made just two Premier League appearances this season and needs to play more often to fulfil his outstanding potential.

He was highly rated in Europe when he joined Tottenham from Sevilla, but the transfer clearly didn’t work out. He has found it difficult to adapt to English football and, under several managers, he has failed to keep a regular starting place at the north London club.

Now, journalist Dean Jones has revealed on Give Me Sport that the player cannot stay at Tottenham this season. He believes that the departure of the 23-year-old winger will allow Tottenham to bring in exciting players in the summer.

“Bryan Gil has a lot to prove if he wants to have a future at Tottenham beyond this season. Personally, I don’t see that happening. He is the one who really needs to be looked at in terms of the impact he will have at Tottenham, because I think Bryan Gil’s departure is necessary to make room for the arrival of another interesting striker.”

A permanent departure could be ideal for all parties. The winger will be able to re-contract for this career by playing regular football at another club, and Spurs will be able to invest the proceeds in someone who can be more useful.

There is no doubt that Gil is a quality player with a big future ahead of him. If he joins the right team at the end of the season, he may be able to fulfil his potential in the coming seasons.
