Paul Merson expects Tottenham and Wolves to play a high-scoring game on Saturday, and he is looking for the home side to beat their opponents.
With the top of the table now very crowded, Spurs will look at the game against Wolves at Tottenham Hotspur as a must-win game.
Although the Lilywhites will be without some key players, Ange Postecoglou has a much stronger squad than he had a month ago.
Tottenham’s win over Brighton last week showed the value of a strong bench, as Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson came on to win the game in extra time.
While there is no doubt that Son will enter the starting eleven, it remains to be seen who will make room, with Merson believing that Dejan Kulusevski will drop to the bench in place of Tim Werner, whose pace will be very useful for Spurs.
The former Arsenal assistant insisted that Tottenham won’t have it all their own way on Saturday, but he believes they will get over the line.
Pundit told Sportskeeda: “Wolves made up ground against Chelsea but lost at home to Brentford, who are struggling, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the game went either way. Tottenham will come out and play as usual, which is nice to watch as a neutral spectator.
“I have a good feeling about this game – I can see it being entertaining and with lots of goals. Son Heung-Min is ready to return to the starting eleven, so we’ll see who will be missing in the top three.
“Maybe I’m wrong, but I think it will be Dejan Kulushevski who will give way and Timo Werner and Richarlison will play alongside the South Korean in attack.
“Kulusevski is a fantastic player and I’m a big fan of his, but Werner’s speed and ability to run in behind defenders could open up a lot of space for James Maddison to exploit.”
Prediction – Tottenham 3:2 Wolves.
Wolves certainly have some threats in attack and if Spurs don’t show their game and simply go through the game (as they did in the first half against Brighton), the West Midlands team could hurt them. Postecoglou will ask his players to put pressure on the away team from the start.
