Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has insisted that Leicester City now realise that they will not win the Championship this season.
In the last ten minutes of the game at Elland Road on Friday night, Leicester appeared to be on course for a 1-0 victory and a 12-point lead at the top of the Championship standings.
However, Leeds put in a real performance late on to win 3-1 and cut Leicester’s lead at the top to six points.
The Whites were already considered automatic promotion candidates, but now many believe they can beat Leicester in the fight to win the Championship this season.
Redfearn admitted that Leeds had let Leicester know on Friday night that they were now on the tail of the Foxes and would not be running away with the league in the coming months.
The former Whites boss told BBC Radio Leeds: “That’s what it’s all about.
“Leicester realised tonight that they are not going to run away with it; they have the right rivals.
“Leeds showed such determination, such will and such a desire to be in the team.”
Leeds have an FA Cup fixture against Chelsea on Wednesday night, before travelling to Huddersfield Town for the Yorkshire derby next weekend.
