Done Deal, Personal terms agreed – Another Tottenham star ditches Ange Postecoglou to join Harry Kane in Germany after reaching overnight agreement to sign for Bayern full-time

It’s strange to say, but Eric Dier is technically still a Tottenham Hotspur player. He won’t be for long – he’s on loan until the end of the season at Bayern Munich, where his contract with Spurs expires, but Spurs technically still own that contract.

But according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, his German loan spell will last at least another full season. Orncle reports that Bayern intends to exercise the 12-month option in Dier’s loan deal, which will make Dier a permanent member of Bayern Munich until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Honestly, good for him. I wish things could have ended better between Dier and Tottenham Hotspur, but everyone seemed to acknowledge that it’s time for him to go … and he just landed at one of the most prestigious clubs in Europe, along with his English and former Spurs mate Harry Kane. It could be much worse!

I haven’t followed Dier’s career in Germany closely at all, but I think he’s doing well enough to be worth paying a decent wage for another season. After that? Who knows. He’ll be 31 then, but Bayern are famous for keeping players beyond their 30s. Maybe Dier will become part of the furniture.
