Alan Shearer names the ONE West Ham player that has momentarily saved David Moyes’ from the SACK after what he recently did

Alan Shearer is impressed by West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who was the man of the match after the 3-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park.

After keeping the Hammers in the game in the first half, he set the scene in the second half with a series of superb stops, before Thomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez scored twice to seal the win.

The Frenchman has been one of the most consistent performers at the London Stadium this season, consistently receiving high praise and cementing his number one spot.

Shearer told The Rest Is Football podcast [4 March]: ‘The goalkeeper’s been great, hasn’t he? Areola has been fantastic. He proved to be the best player in the game, he made saves time and time again.

“It was a great win for West Ham to go there and beat them, Everton is a tough place to go to. It was a great win.”

West Ham need players like Alphonse Areola to rise up:

As the pressure mounts on the West Ham boss’s job, David Moyes needs to strengthen his big players more than ever, and against Everton it was Areola who was in the spotlight and rescued all three points for the under-fire manager.

The two wins in east London have eased the tension and the whole team will now be looking to progress on both the domestic and European stage after two impressive performances.

Last week, Jarrod Bowen scored a fantastic hat-trick against Brentford to help his team to a 4-2 victory at the London Stadium, strengthening his bid to be part of the England squad this summer and strengthening his position as manager.

But can Moyes continue to survive on individual performances? As long as results continue to improve, you would probably think so. Questions remain about his future at the club, but if this new-found winning streak continues, the board could make a decision.
