David Moyes gives the first update on West Ham’s squad for the game against Freiburg on Thursday (7 March).
In a pre-match press conference on Wednesday (6 March), the Hammers boss revealed that Nayef Aguerd is a “doubt” for the Europa League Round of 16 play-off.
He added that Maxwel Cornet did not travel with the team, but the rest of the players are fit to play as the Irons look to build a first-leg advantage in Germany.
“We’ve got a question mark about Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet has not travelled, so we will see what happens with those two,” Moyes said. “Otherwise, we are fine.”
West Ham’s squad is almost healthy ahead of the match with Freiburg:
West Ham’s squad is probably the healthiest it has been for some time this calendar year after some star players were injured.
Moyes will no doubt be pleased to have an almost fully healthy squad with only Aguerd and Cornet missing the Europa League game.
Although the Moroccan international has featured a lot this season, he has recently lost his place in the team to his teammate Konstantinos Mavropanos due to some disappointing performances.
The Kladivar boss might be tempted to make some changes against the German club to freshen up his squad, but he will want to keep the momentum going after two consecutive wins.
It is undoubtedly an important game in our season as we look to progress to the final rounds of the competition and ensure another successful campaign at the London Stadium.
