Tottenham take on Aston Villa this weekend in a match that could decide who finishes in the top four.
The north London club are currently breathing down Villa’s neck in the Premier League, but a win in this encounter will either reduce the gap or give them some breathing space.
This match will be very difficult to predict. On the one hand, Villa are almost unbeatable at home this season, but on the other hand, they have been patchy lately – they almost squandered a comfortable lead against Luton at the weekend.
As always, Paul Merson predicted this game in his SportsKeeda column and advocated a 2-2 draw.
Paul Merson predicts the game between Aston Villa and Tottenham:
Merson tells us how the match will play out.
“If Tottenham lose, they will be eight points behind Aston Villa. They will still have a game in hand, but it’s more of a must-win game for Ange Postecoglou and his team. Both teams play at such a high level and have a bunch of talented attacking players, so it will be entertaining football,” wrote Merson.
“If Villa win, I think they’ll put the top-four race to bed, which is honestly an unbelievable feat.I’m looking at their squads and the seasons they’ve had so far, but I just can’t seem to separate them.”
Close:
Whatever the outcome of this match, we can almost guarantee that it will be a close game.
These are two teams that like to play an expansive and exciting style of play, so we expect goals to fall in this match.
In the end, the result will depend on who takes their chances, but with home court advantage and Ollie Watkins in the form of his life, we have to point to Villa as favourites to win.
