However, insider information from Bill Simmons shed light on another suitor in the mix: the Boston Celtics. Simmons disclosed that the Celtics were indeed interested in acquiring Wright but lost out to Miami due to a crucial factor—the promise of playing time.
On the March 8 episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” Simmons revealed, “The Celtics wanted [Wright], by the way. And Miami promised him playing time, so you know.”
