Leeds United will welcome Hull City to Elland Road on Easter Monday with many expecting a comfortable night for the hosts based on recent results. Hull is a team heading in the wrong direction in the Championship standings, having fallen out of the playoffs after a run of five games without a win.
Despite adding high-profile arrivals in January to an already well-stocked squad, the hopes of a Premier League return seem to be fading fast for Liam Rosenior’s side. In contrast, Leeds, depending on results earlier tomorrow, could find themselves back on top of the table with just six games remaining.
Leeds remains unbeaten all year and undefeated at home this season, making them the obvious favorites. However, Hull City reporter for HullLive, Barry Cooper, has warned that the Tigers have shown more bite away from home and have the ability to match the top teams in the division.
“Given the very obvious difficulties Hull City have playing at home, they may well be glad to have two away games coming up at Leeds on Monday and then Cardiff,” explained Cooper.
“On the road, City have been a very different animal to what we’ve seen at the MKM Stadium and you would not put it past the Tigers to return to East Yorkshire with points in their pocket, but they’ll have to play an awful lot better than this to build up some momentum.
“Liam Rosenior’s men have already proved what a tough nut to crack they are on the road with wins at both Leicester and Southampton. City also held the Whites to a goalless draw, albeit a long way back in September, and their form against those relegated Premier League clubs shows how the Tigers can mix it against the best and there has to be a response.
“They’ll need to be at their best to get anything against Leeds, but we’ve seen more than enough from Rosenior’s side this season to know they’re more than capable of it.”
