EXCLUSIVE – It’s not looking good as Leeds Utd set to push out Top-class 26-year old star as they did to Aaronson, Jack Harrison to balance the books

Leeds United facilitated the defender’s move to Borussia Monchengladbach on a temporary basis the previous summer. Wober, aged 26, has been a consistent presence for the Bundesliga outfit this season, featuring in 25 matches across all competitions. His tenure with Borussia Monchengladbach is set to conclude soon, prompting speculation about his next destination.

Football Insider’s report suggests that Leeds might have to arrange another loan deal for Wober in the upcoming transfer window to offload him.

Signed by Leeds in January 2023, Wober’s arrival failed to avert the team’s relegation from the Premier League. Despite making 19 appearances during the relegation season, he found himself surplus to requirements under Daniel Farke’s management this term.

With 23 international caps for Austria, Wober’s potential remains substantial. However, his diminishing role at Leeds has prompted discussions about his future. His four-year contract with the club leaves ample time, yet his lack of involvement has relegated him down the squad hierarchy.

Departing Wober could prove beneficial for Leeds, both financially and in terms of squad space. His tenure at various clubs, including Rapid Wien, Ajax, Sevilla, and Red Bull Salzburg, illustrates his experience. Nonetheless, his fate at Leeds hinges on the club’s league status, with promotion aspirations in the Championship.

Leeds’ pursuit of promotion faces stiff competition from teams like Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton. Recent results, including a 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers, have dimmed their prospects. Currently occupying 3rd place in the table, Leeds trails the top two teams by a single point, with three fixtures remaining.

Their recent form, with only one win in the last five matches, raises concerns as they prepare for encounters against Middlesbrough, QPR, and Southampton. Amidst this challenging landscape, Wober’s future remains uncertain, with Leeds balancing aspirations for promotion against squad restructuring.
